Description
LOCTITE EDAG 440 AS E&C is a thermoplastic, nickel-filled conductive coating designed for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in electronic housings, medical devices, and parabolic antennas. With a low surface resistivity (<0.5 Ω/sq) and high shielding effectiveness (50–70 dB at 50 µm), it ensures reliable EMC performance.
The coating is spray-applied to plastics such as ABS, PC, or polystyrene, and cures either at room temperature or with forced drying. It offers excellent adhesion (grade 5B), a pencil hardness of 9H, and is suitable for both prototyping and high-volume manufacturing.
Applications:
-
EMI/ESD shielding in electronic housings
-
Electromagnetic protection in consumer and medical equipment
-
Reflective layers for parabolic antennas
-
Compatible with plastics like ABS, PC, PS
Technical Properties:
-
Technology: Thermoplastic conductive nickel coating
-
Appearance: Metallic/nickel
-
Surface resistivity: <0.5 Ω/sq (at 25 µm)
-
Shielding effectiveness: 50–70 dB (at 50 µm)
-
Pencil hardness: 9H
-
Adhesion: Grade 5B (ASTM D3359)
-
Density: 2,025 kg/m³
-
Solid content: 68%
-
Viscosity: 5,750 mPa·s (20 rpm, 20°C)
-
Theoretical coverage: 17 m²/kg @ 10 µm
-
Drying: Touch dry in 5 min, full cure in 4–16 h (or 20–30 min @ 60–70°C)
-
Shelf life: 12 months (5–30°C)
